Something in the air
Recently, a woman approached me to ask if there was a treatment program for “blue screen addiction.” She meant all of our screens: smartphones, tablets, laptops and TVs. Come to find out, there are treatment programs popping up around the country for people, teenagers and adults, who cannot go without some form of technology. Young people are sleeping with their phones, texting – and worse – throughout the night. Some teens and adults disappear for hours and hours into the world of video games and pornography. Some treatment options are patterned after 12-Step recovery models while some use cognitive behavioral approaches. I’ll continue to research and comment on this in the months to come. In the meantime, read this and use some of the suggestions to counter all that tech. By the way, I though I caught a whiff of Spring yesterday!
